ActivArmor specialises in the printing of waterproof, sanitizable, custom-designed casts and splints. Using 3D scans of patient extremities, Fusion 3 EDGE printers produce biocompatible casts and splints in 2 and a half hours. Using Fusion 3 EDGE technology has allowed ABS to be used, to ensure the casts are waterproof and durable, allowing patients to practice basic hygiene like showering and hand washing, and to carry on with their normal activities despite injury and treatment. However, ActivArmor can be printed on a wide range of machines and platforms, including multijet fusion and selective laser sintering. The company is also developing a turnkey solution, where ActivArmor software uses 3D body scans and automated design software that allows splints and casts to be printed in situ at doctors offices. 3D printing has enabled ActiArmor to provide a sanitary, durable and entirely unique and customisable solution, and has reduced the time taken to deliver care to patients as well as lessening disruption to their daily lives.
