Description

BioAssemblyBot® (Bab) offers a way to robotically add patient stem cells back to a decellularized heart and bring it back to life. BAB was programmed by Dr. Doris Taylor, CEO to inject 350 billion cells into a heart scaffold, enabling the automation and creation of a personalised human heart fast enough to realistically enable on-demand bio-engineered human heart transplants. The BioAssemblyBot 500 features a six-axis robotic arm with an integrated Type-A biosafety cabinet, facilitating a sterile environment. These features allow for there to be greater control over the elements during the printing process, as engineers can control temperature, pressure and UV exposure. The BAB500 has used 3D printing and engineering innovation to facilitate medical innovation. 3D printing can therefore be considered part of the armoury for medical research going forward, seeking to revolutionise complex procedures, transplants and more.
