Pearson Lloyd and Batch.Works, 3d printed collection of office and home accessories
Bene bFriends - sustainable 3D printed design accessories made from recycled bioplastic
Description
The bFriends accessories collection is the result of a collaboration between Pearson Lloyd and London 3D print startup Batch.Works. The bFRIENDS collection for BENE, is the first of its kind to deliver well-priced accessories using 3D printing technology for the workplace. Here 3D printing offers huge advantages over traditional injection molding processes, including digital tooling, print on demand and localized production. The various shapes and textures of the accessories are complex, meaning 3D Printing was the only viable form of manufacture able to ensure the vision of Pearson Lloyd could become reality. The bFRIENDS line consists of numerous different products: organizers, hangers, clips and hooks, decorations, vases and plant pots. BFRIENDS is manufactured from 100% post-consumer recycled PLA (rPLA). This is produced from locally-sourced waste streams, such as food packaging materials. Reflow turns the rPLA into a biodegradable 3D printing filament. When the product comes to the end of its useful life, bFRIENDS can be reintegrated into the closed-loop material cycle.
